And it began with a step
Out of the house.
It’s amazing how I can fit half my worldly belongings into a dreadfully large suitcase, a laptop bag, a sports bag and a backpack, considering the number of things I own. I guess if I had only packed the inanimate objects I treasured, it should have fit into one backpack. Maybe that should be my goal one day – one backpack, to go around the world with.
While I stood waiting at the car, basking in the last of this humid evening for a long time to come, splat! Two and a half decades without incident and the welcome mat rolled out towards my new life was a splat from a pigeon. Dad said it was a blessing from above. Hah! We all know better, don’t we?
Flying into a different continent, the sun peeked over the horizon to end a sleepless night on the plane.

4.55am: I'd tell you it that the globe of light was from the plane's wing, but you already knew that, didn't you?

5.01am: And the sun gradually defined the horizon

5.08am: Can you possibly be reminded of that which you have not experienced?

5.31am: Or do you simply yearn to experience more, lapping at this new sensation with a thirst you never knew you had.

5.52am: Welcome to the unfamiliar
